Role: Designer, Copywriter, Photographer, Illustrator, Layout Editor
Responsibilities: Ideation, Research, Copy, Design
Result: Magazine
Tools: Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Hand Sketching, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop
This project consisted of designing a magazine layout, research, and writing a piece on the chosen subject. Passionate about sustainability, I created a package design magazine called Warp. This specific issue centers on how packaging companies are making new ethically conscious changes to their companies.
Research
Inspiration
I started research by looking at how other designers incorporated paper into their digital designs. I knew from being assigned this project, I wanted paper to be my main element in the magazine. I also wanted to maintain a vibrant, fresh color palette.
Sketches
Putting my cover page and masthead ideas out on paper helped me to formulate a stronger layout and my publication design as a whole.
Digital Layouts
Knowing I wanted to create intricate paper backgrounds for my layout designs, I used filler photos in my digital ideations so that I could get a better grasp on how I wanted to lay out my titles, body text, etc.
Paper Process
From cutting, glueing, assembling, to staging and lastly, photographing, here are some behind the scenes pictures of my paper process for the final publication.
