a goal i set for myself going into 2023 was to paint a mural. I guess the universe heard and when my previous bosses were remodeling their work space, they asked me to paint a mural for them. Although the design is not my own, the opportunity and skills i learned through out the process were something i will take with me in hopes i will be presented with another mural opportunity in the future.

why sparkle?

to mango ink and the yellow x owners, ryan & heidi, this word reflects the energy and the people they want to experience and share life with. The qualities of people they gravitate towards exude “sparkle” a fun, bubbly, positive & up beat attitude. what better way to remind and reflect back on then have the word painted boldly on the wall at work.

so they are reflected?

yep. mango ink has sparkle written backwards while on the opposing wall, the yellow x has sparkle written normally. Not only did the interior designer’s vision want them to be a reflective visual, but with mango ink being a letterpress studio, they de-boss (opposite of em-boss) into paper products, leaving an imprint on the paper. If the de-bossing is deep enough, you can feel and somewhat see the design on the opposite side. This emulation is showcased in the mural.
